Job Description

Ohio-based Akron Children’s Hospital seeks a Pediatric & Adolescent Sports Orthopedic Surgeon to join its expanding Department. Akron Children’s Hospital is ranked among the best children’s hospitals by US News and World Report.

This integrated healthcare delivery system includes:

  • Two free-standing pediatric hospitals
  • More than 900 providers, who manage 1,000,000+ patient visits annually
  • A network of more than 60 primary and specialty care locations
  • An American College of Surgeons certified pediatric trauma center

  • The Pediatric Orthopedic Department includes a dedicated team of 11 orthopedic surgeons (including 2 full-time sports surgeons) and 11 nurse practitioners who manage over 40,000 patient visits per year and perform over 3,000 surgical cases per year. Our team works closely with Akron Children’s providers to ensure early diagnosis and aggressive treatment for injuries that occur in both organized and recreational athletics. We also serve as team physicians for collegiate and high school teams.

  • Collaboration with non-operative Sports Medicine Physicians

  • Requirements include board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, pediatric fellowship training and the ability to obtain an active medical license in the state of Ohio. Expertise in upper and lower extremity sports reconstruction and subspecialty certification in sports is preferred.
