Summary:

The Associate Research Scientist will be expected to establish an externally funded research program that fosters collaboration between existing translational and clinical areas within the Department of Orthopedics and regional academic institutions. In addition, he/she will be expected to manage departmental participation in multicenter study groups.  Clinical and research focus areas include pediatric spine deformity, sports related injury, rare orthopedic diseases, traumatic injuries, foot and ankle deformity, neuromuscular disease and pediatric and young adult hip disorders.  

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to function as an independent investigator who manages a research program.
  2. Accountable for advancing research in a specified area.
  3. Lead and/or contribute to cross-disciplinary teams of biomedical scientists, physicians and trainees engaged in collaborative studies. 

 

Other information:

  1. Doctorate (PhD) in Epidemiology or related field.  
  2. 3+ years of research experience. Experience in orthopedics preferred.
  3. Excellent written & oral communications skills.
  4. Ability to write successful grant proposals.
  5. Track record of, or potential to obtain, significant external research funding.
  6. Published work in high quality journals.
