Assistant Athletic Trainer
Under the supervision/direction of the Athletic Trainer, provides clinical care (prevention, evaluation, first aide, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injury and illness) to student athletes. Works in consultation with the Athletic Trainer and primary care physicians and coaches to provide healthcare, teaching, documentation and record management of all sports-related injuries and illnesses. Responsible for assisting with the implementation of safety/prevention and educational programs developed by the Athletic Trainer. Communicates directly and routinely with the Athletic Trainer, hospital management, and parents/guardians. Familiar with local, State and Federal rules and regulations as well as National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Ohio .A.T.A guidelines.
Under the supervision/direction of the Clinical Research Project Coordinator, provides patient supervision, data entry, and basic triage for injured athletes participating in the TecTraum Protocool Research Study sponsored by TecTraum. Is willing to accept on-call status and travel to regional sites as designated by Clinical Research Project Coordinator. The position is valid as long as the study is actively receiving participants.
Must be a licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio. Must be N.A.T.A.-BOC certified A.T.C. Must be able to work as part of a team and interact with people in a friendly, supportive manner at all times. Must have the ability to deal with a variety of situations and personalities. Must be certified in BLS, specifically with Healthcare Provider Training and First Aid. Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or other related field required.
This position will serve as on call staff for a community based clinical device trial. This involves testing a coolant therapy among student athletes who experience a concussion. The device will be tested in twenty high schools across Northeast Ohio. On Call staff will be expected to administer the cooling therapy and record study data.
Call pay included.
