Research IT Application Lead I
Responsible for coordination of building, testing, implementing, upgrading and optimizing of a specific electronic database application/module or cross-application function implemented by the Research Institute (examples include, but are not limited to CTMS, EPIC, etc.). Responsible for planning, structuring and monitoring the system implementation and ongoing support activities. Leads and reports on the work assignments of the team members and trainers including workflow analysis, design and build sessions with Subject Matter Experts (including physicians, nursing, respiratory care, pharmacy and other ancillary or business services). Maintains, escalates, and resolves the issues within the project/application, and conveys application/project status. Serves as a bridge between Clinical Research, Hospital, and Information Service Department through regular communications. Primary application contact with department leadership and end-users. Develops and maintains internal policies and procedures and documentation that will be utilized with the application. Leads status meetings and accountable for items in area of responsibility assigned. Coordinates work of the project team members. Assists in the evaluation of other project team members and students as needed. Identifies and plans appropriate training and oversight of the team members to assist them in attaining/maintaining the necessary application knowledge. Coaches/mentors other application coordinators through more difficult work assignments and leads by successful example and experiences. Adheres to service level agreements (SLA’s) where appropriate. Provides input into staff evaluations.
Bachelor Degree in related field required. Minimum of four (4) years experience in electronic database applications management required. Prior electronic database application coordinator/ implementation experience preferred. Valid previous/current database certification in primary application area (if applicable). Certification for areas/classes required and/or recommended required. Experience with the successful design, development, configuration, testing, implementation and support of the components within the database applications. Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Excellent communication, mentoring and team building skills. Familiarity with project management concepts, tools, status reports, risk assessments and remediation alternatives. Demonstration of computer literacy, including the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Ability to work additional hours and take call as needed. Ability to travel to obtain additional certification, and to attend meetings (User Group, Advisory Council) as requested.
