Support clinical and research functions of department by preparing/ performing assigned eye procedures (e.g. ultrasound, visual field, fundus photography, flourescein angiography, A-scans, lensometry, tonometry, retinoscopy, refractometry, visual evoked potentials, electroculography, electroretingram, corneal topography, specular microscopy, etc.) on pediatric and adult patients under supervision of physician. Works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary health care team. Other duties as assigned by department management.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum one (1) year of related experience in medical setting required. Pediatric experience preferred. Completion of an approved Ophthalmic Technician/ Assistant program by the end of the first year of employment. Certification or certification eligible by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Strong communications (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills required. Ability to work independently and be self motivated. Strong customer service skills and team orientation required. Limited travel required.
