Interventional Specialist Cath Lab

Job Description

Position Summary:


Assists cardiologists in performing highly technical diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, electrophysiology (EP) studies, and radiofrequency (RF) ablations on newborns, children and adults with congenital heart disease. Responsible for monitoring waveforms and pressure gradients during procedures, circulating in the cath lab, running blood gasses, flowcharting, maintenance of equipment and supplies, laboratory quality control and related documentation. Is able to interpret orders of the cardiologists and assist in preparation of lab and the patients for procedure. Must be able to use equipment necessary to perform tests, and demonstrate advanced level of knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.


BCLS required. Must be ACLS and PALS certified or be able to obtain certification within one year.

Education: Bachelor/Associate Degree in biological sciences or allied health program preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years catheterization lab experience in high volume interventional lab, specializing in procedures such as balloon angioplasty and pulmonary artery stent placement. Pediatric/Adult congenital experience preferred. Knowledge of congenital heart disease and sterile technique.
