PICU Education Coordinator (RN) Full-Time

Shift Information: Variable
Position Summary: Provides education for staff, families, health professionals, and community in assigned area and are responsible for those activities throughout the enterprise. Collaborates with the nurse leaders, staff, patients, families, and the community to assess, plan and implement educational activities to meet identified learning needs utilizing learning principles. Develops and utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to determine effectiveness of educational activities. Participates in committees, task forces, meetings and activities to assist in the development of staff. Participates in activities that promote professional development and enhance the practice of nursing and staff, patient/family, and student education. Facilitates compliance with unit, department, and organization mandatory educational requirements. Facilitates review/development of associated policies/procedures. Supports nursing research, performance improvement, and evidence-based practice.
Unit Based: Coordinates and provides unit based education and orientation for staff on assigned areas. Provides and assists with patient care which reflects a family centered approach as needed.
Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio. Master’s Degree required or must be enrolled in an approved program by June 2016 with completion by December 31, 2018. All current Education Coordinators who are not Master’s prepared must be enrolled in an approved program by June 2016 with completion by December 31, 2018. Healthcare provider BLS certification required and BLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of hire. A minimum of two years relevant experience required. Professional certification, computer competency, and pediatric experience preferred.
