Shift Information: Evening Job

40 hours/week, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
 
Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Painter provides our on-campus Facilities with aesthetic and safety maintenance on a routine basis.  The Facilities Maintenance Painter ensures that all facilities are maintained in a safe and effective manner. 
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Adds value as a key member of the facilities maintenance team; understands regulatory compliance, all forms of maintenance strategies and the key components of excellent customer service.
  2. Works in constant coordination with then entire Facilities Maintenance team as well as the Regional Facilities Maintenance team (on and off-campus) to provide service to our customers at both on and off-site locations.
  3. Completes and appropriately documents all work assigned to Facilities Maintenance Painter crew. 
  4. Provides continuous support to the Facilities Maintenance Operations Manager, Safety Team and the Facilities Director.
  5. Provides backup coverage to other Facilities Maintenance Painters as needed or required.
  6. Provides staff and management updates when needed.
  7. Communicates Engineering/Maintenance issues to both internal and external hospital departments and contacts.
  8. Works in coordination with the Planning, Design and Construction Staff and external contractors on an as-needed basis.
  9. Participates in on-going training and education as required and assigned by the Hospital/Department.
  10. Follows and enforces Joint Commission and CMS regulations.
  11. Available for emergency on-call maintenance when needed.
  12. Other duties as required.
     

Education and Experience
  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Commercial and/or Residential painting required.
  3. Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 5 years is required.
  4. Valid driver’s license is required.
Technical Expertise
  1. Experience in general commercial building painting/maintenance is required. 
    1.  Carpentry, Finishing, Painting, Drywall, Signage(removal and re-install)
  2. Experience with commercial paint mixer.
    1. Must be able to mix and match paint consistently.
    2. Must be able to mix and blend various paints, enamels, lacquers and stains or special coatings as needed.
  3. Experience with prepping for paint by washing, scraping, sanding or other means necessary.
    1. Use of caulking equipment.
    2. Use of painting equipment.
    3. Patching using joint compounds, plaster, putties or cements.
       
  4. Experience with wall covering materials.
     
    1. Removal of wallpaper or wall coverings. Installation of wall paper or wall coverings.
    2. Install Acrovyn, corner guard’s, wall protection as required.
    3. Cove base removal and installation.
    4. Install steel studs/backing as needed.
    5. Hang and finish drywall.
    6. Painting of drywall.
       
  5. Determines quantities of materials and orders supplies.
     
  6. Cleans equipment used, stores tools and equipment.
     
  7. Keeps work site and egress paths free of debris, carts and the like.
     
  8. Must be able evaluate emergency situations and determine a safe and appropriate solution to issues as they arise.
  9. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  10. Experience with building codes, OSHA, NFPA, and life safety regulations is preferred.
  11. Experience in The Joint Commission and CMS regulatory bodies is preferred.
  12. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  13. Strong communication, both verbal and written, is required.
  14. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  15. Strong ability to work both independently and as a valued team member is required. Works well with others.
  16. Ability to read blueprints is required.
  17. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software is required.  High level of proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) required.
