Position Summary:
The Manager Internal Audit organizes and oversees Hospital’s Internal Audit function and provides consultative services to the Hospital departments as identified.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Adds value as a key member of management; understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy.
  2. Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.
  3. Organizes and oversees Hospital’s Internal Audit function and provides consultative services to the Hospital departments as identified.
  4. Provides the Audit Committee, management, and other hospital departments with ongoing assessments of the Hospital’s risk management processes and system of internal controls. 
  5. Monitors system wide strategic, financial, regulatory, reputational, and operational risks. 
  6. Reports analysis and testing results including any identified deficiencies to the Audit Committee on a quarterly basis as well as mitigation plans for identified deficiencies. 
  7. Works with other internal audit related positions in the Hospital to address and mitigate organizational risks as identified. 
  8. Works with the Board, Administration, and management with regards to internal control processes.
  9. Is responsible for ensuring the Hospital’s (including subsidiaries) compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance laws, regulations/rules, administrative directions and determinations, and acceptable practices.
  10. Works on special projects and analyses, preferably closely related to functions that are reviewed/audited by the individual.
  11. Other duties as required.
    Technical Expertise
  12. Experience in managing an audit function is required.
  13. Experience in auditing is required; Experience in Big 4 or larger auditing firm is preferred.
  14. Experience in healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.
  15. Experience in GAAP is required.
  16. Experience in strong documentation skills is required.
  17. Experience working with others both internally and externally regarding confidential information to avoid potential information exposure is required.
  18. Travel and valid license required.
  19. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  20. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.  Intermediate functions in Excel such as pivot tables, vlookup functions, etc is required. SharePoint is preferred.

Education and Experience
  1. Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  2. Certification: CPA, CIA, or CISA is preferred.
  3. Years of relevant experience: 5 to 7 years is preferred.
  4. Years of experience supervising: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
  5. Prefer Healthcare experience. 
  6. Advance Excel skills required.
  7. Audit experience required.  

Working conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, push/pull, use hands, and see, hear and speak.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • This position is performed in an office setting, five days a week with typical work hours being 8.00a through 5.00p.
