Shift Information: Day Job

24 hrs/wk, rotates every other Sat


This is a part time (24 hours per week) position to work 7am to 3:3pm and rotate every other Saturday.


Obtains blood specimens through venipuncture, capillary puncture, or heel stick.  Performs iontophoresis in order to collect sweat. Also may collect nasal washings, nasopharyngeal specimens, throat cultures if working in the Outpatient Labs. Orders and receives lab tests in the LIS as requested by the physician.  Communicates well with the patient, family, laboratory and nursing service regarding specimen requirements, ordering, and miscellaneous requests.  Performs a number of basic tests/procedures. Processes specimens for all areas of the laboratory. Follows hospital policies and procedures.

High School Graduate or equivalent plus graduation from an approved Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy program or a minimum of one year of phlebotomy/laboratory assistant experience.  Must have the ability to effectively communicate in a written and oral fashion.  Phlebotomy experience preferred.
