Orthopedic Technician I

Job Description

Shift Information: Variable


Office Hours are 6:45am - 7pm Mon-Fri; will typically work 1-2 days per week, or match new hire's availability.

After training, will work in the ER 1-2 shifts/week, any day (Mon-Sun) 7a-3p or 3p-11p.

Will travel to local clinics approx. once/week (Hudson, N. Canton, Mansfield, Medina).


Position Summary: Completes tasks assigned by ordering physicians and duties that are pertinent to patient care. 


Duties include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining patient flow
  • Rooming and assisting patients and the physician
  • Cast application and removal
  • Setting up and removal of traction
  • Completing patient documentation and encounter forms
  • Answering patient and family questions 
  • Supplying patient with proper printed material as ordered by physician.
  • Providing patient with home going instructions which may include dressing changes, exercise, and crutch or walker training


Additional responsibilities include maintaining clean patient rooms and following OSHA / HIPAA / JCAHO regulations and guidelines at all times. 


Other responsibilities include:

  • Requesting and obtaining x-rays and lab reports for physician review
  • Maintaining supplies and patient equipment
  • Assisting with patient scheduling
  • Keeping patient rooms stocked
  • Contacting specialty brace companies
  • Storage of supplies and cleaning instruments
  • Will also complete other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Completion of an allied health program (RN, PA, LPN, Surgical Tech, Athletic Training, Paramedic, Intermediate, or EMT Basic) preferred. 
  • Current Health Care Provider BLS training is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
