Under the direction of the Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the CLIA Laboratory Medical Directors and the Administrative Director, the Laboratory Quality and Compliance Manager will oversee, assist in development and coordinate the implementation of the Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement and Regulatory Compliance activities for the department. 

 

As the Laboratory Quality and Compliance manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining a high level of system-wide inspection readiness.  This manager will be keep track of and ensure compliance with regulatory updates  and be responsible, in collaboration with other managers, supervisors and Sr. Technologists, to address compliance issues discovered during audits/tracers/mock inspections in order to align quality and improvement activities and maintain the quality management program for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

 

The areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: personnel qualification, training and competency; quality control practices; and proficiency testing and oversight of test methodology studies.  

                           

Bachelor of Science degree required, Masters degree preferred. Certification/registry at the Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist level with an accredited agency (ASCP) is required.  Minimum of five to seven years previous experience in an accredited laboratory with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in laboratory management including personnel management.  Ability to conduct meetings, problem solving sessions, and interviews.  Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills required.  Ability to create, review, and summarize management documents.  Extensive knowledge of accreditation, safety and regulatory requirements is required. Experience in data analysis/project management and/or database computer programs such as Epic, SCC LIS, Lotus, Access, and Strata is strongly preferred.
