Shift Information: Day Job

Coordinates office procedures and efficient operation of department. Communicates effectively via personal contact, phone and in writing with patients/ families, hospital staff, community professionals, insurance companies, etc. Schedules and receives patients/ families for all department services. Accurately uses computer for reports, letters, forms, etc. Complies with all department/ hospital policies and procedures. Completes special projects as assigned. Provide secretarial support for the clinical and educational activities of physicians, nurses or other support staff within the specialty area.  Participate in cross coverage efforts with other secretaries/departments as directed.


Position requires high school degree with emphasis on business and interpersonal skills.  Secretary experience required. Medical office experience preferred. Skills include typing 35 wpm, filing, and multiline telephones. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office systems including Outlook, Word and Excel. Must be detail oriented with the ability to make decisions and work under stressful conditions in an appropriate manner. Must be compassionate towards families experiencing stressful conditions. Must possess excellent communication skills.
