What is Career Launch?
Our new workforce development program – Career Launch – is designed to provide current employees and community members with educational opportunities to start and advance their careers.
By partnering with local colleges, Akron Children’s will provide participants with educational opportunities that will help them develop clinical skills and careers in the following fields: Medical Assistant, LPN, Registered Respiratory Therapist and EEG Technician. We will then work with participants to place them in jobs in their selected field of study once they complete their education.
Our community is our future.
Just as our community has always supported us, we are committed to supporting our community, and the Career Launch program aims to do just that. Our goal is to put community members on a path to a stable career with advancement potential by removing common barriers to post-secondary education.
For those community members who are interested in a career in health care – including those who aren’t aware of the opportunities that exist at Akron Children’s – Career Launch will provide support well beyond traditional tuition assistance to help them achieve their goals.
Our program benefits include: 100% tuition paid; paid fees for uniforms, books, supplies, and equipment, as well as the following benefits and support as needed:
- Transportation assistance
- Child care assistance
Career Launch also provides opportunities for mentorship during the program.
The successful candidate for this program will possess traits that align with our three promises:
- To treat every child as we would our own
- To treat others as they would like to be treated
- To turn no child away for any reason
We require that candidates be committed to the demands of the program, be employed by Akron Children’s Hospital, maintain current job performance and bring to the table a compassionate, positive and courteous demeanor. This requires a high degree of professionalism, solid communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Akron Children’s Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
