What is Career Launch?
Our diversity workforce development program – Career Launch – is designed to provide current employees and community members with educational opportunities to start and advance their careers.
We work with local colleges to provide participants with educational opportunities that will help them
develop clinical skills and careers in the following fields:
- Medical Assistant
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- EEG Technician
- Pharmacy Technician
- Sterile Processing Technician
- Registered Respiratory Technician
- Medical Lab Technician
We will then work with participants to place them in jobs in their selected field of study once they complete their education.
Our community is our future.
Just as our community has always supported us, we are committed to supporting our community, and the Career Launch program aims to do just that. Our goal is to put community members on a path to a stable career with advancement potential by removing common barriers to post-secondary education. We're working with local high schools and community agencies to attract more diverse participants as we build an employee population that reflects the communities we serve.
For those community members who are interested in a career in health care – including those who aren’t aware of the opportunities that exist at Akron Children’s – Career Launch will provide support well beyond traditional tuition assistance to help them achieve their goals.
Our program benefits include: 100% tuition paid; paid fees for uniforms, books, supplies and equipment, as well as the following benefits and support as needed:
- Transportation assistance
- Child care assistance
Career Launch also matches each participant with a mentor who partners with them to achieve success within the program.
Program Enrollment
The successful candidate for this program will possess traits that align with our three promises:
- To treat every child as we would our own
- To treat others as they would like to be treated
- To turn no child away for any reason
We understand that it's not easy to attend school while working. If you're interested in Career Launch, you should be fully committed to the demands of the program. You'll be expected to maintain satisfactory job performance while displaying a compassionate, positive and courteous demeanor. Career Launch participants have a high degree of professionalism, solid communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
