At Akron Children's, we recognize that there are far too many barriers keeping talented people out of the medical field. That's why we created the Career Launch program. By removing the financial worry of a return to school, employees and community members can build skills that will put them on the path to a stable career with advancement opportunities.
Career Launch offers educational opportunities in the following fields:
- ASCEND- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
- Medical Assistant (MA)
- Licensed Practical Nursing – Home Care Division (LPN)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

We work with several schools that offer various degrees and certificates, allowing for students to pursue their passions in a multitude of areas. And, with new program tracks continually being added, as well as comprehensive financial/well-being benefits, Career Launch is designed for participants to thrive - now and in the future.

Preparing to Launch - Enrollment Process
If you're ready to launch your career with us and grow professionally, we're ready to talk to you. Applying for a Career Launch program involves more than just filling out an application. To make sure candidates have considered the time investment required and the possible directions it will take their career, we've designed the following two Career Launch programs:
Three-year work requirement with Akron Children's

Intake Call
After applying, you'll be asked to chat with our team. Prepare for this call like it's a job interview. We'll use this time to learn more about your career goals and determine the program option that best fits your lifestyle.

Job Shadowing
Following a professional in the program track that you choose, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at their day, meet with a manager and share what you've learned.

Accept a Student Position
Attend professional development sessions earning $15 an hour up to 15 hours per month.

Start school
You'll attend school full time. We prepay all costs for tuition, uniforms, books, supplies and equipment. We offer transportation and child care assistance (when needed).

Partner with cohort
You'll be introduced to other students in the same discipline. Students support each other by forming study groups to share notes and advice. After graduation, you'll work in your new department with your cohort.
Two-year work requirement with Akron Children's

Get Hired
If you advance after your intake, we'll help you secure employment in a position you're qualified for at Akron Children's.
