At Akron Children’s, this designation goes beyond formal recognition of superior nursing care. What makes it all possible
When you care for a patient as you would your own child, extraordinary things happen. Here, futures are in your hands. You make an impact on a daily basis, face-to-face, for children and their families. You do much more than treat patients. You get to know them, so interactions mean more. At Akron Children’s, you become a nurse who brings specialized skills and a secret handshake. A dedication to compassionate interactions and to knowing a favorite princess. As the individual your patients come to recognize, rely on and smile at, you go beyond the title of nurse. Because this is more than a job. It’s what you were meant to do. Nurse Residency Program
The Akron Children's Nurse Residency Program is accredited with Distinction by the Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP), which sets the gold standard for transition to practice programs for registered nurses.
The Nurse Residency Program supports new graduate registered nurses in their first year of practice. Our Residency Advisory Board, which includes members from schools of nursing, was identified as a best practice in creating alignment between the schools’ curriculum and our program’s quality outcome goals.
