Summary:The Senior Nursing Workforce Development and Retention Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing nursing workforce. This role works collaboratively with nursing leadership, human resources, professional development, and external partners to address staffing needs, career advancement pathways, employee engagement, and retention efforts. The Senior Nursing Workforce Development and Retention Specialist collaborates with a team dedicated to workforce planning, professional development, and employee engagement initiatives to ensure a stable and satisfied nursing workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment Strategy: Partner with nursing leadership and human resources to design and execute innovative recruitment strategies that align with organizational goals. Represent the organization at strategic outreach events including job fairs, academic partnerships, and community engagement forums to build a robust talent pipeline.
- Retention & Workforce Sustainability: Lead retention initiatives focused on enhancing nurse satisfaction, engagement, and career longevity. Collaborate with department heads to implement data-informed strategies that support workforce stability and growth.
- Professional Development: Design and manage professional development programs that include structured career pathways, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities. Align development initiatives with organizational priorities to cultivate future leaders.
- Culture & Engagement Strategy: Champion a culture of excellence by influencing employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and continuous feedback loops.
- Workforce Intelligence & Analytics: Leverage advanced analytics to monitor workforce trends, forecast talent needs, and evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives. Present actionable insights to leadership to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

· Experience in project management with interdisciplinary team is required.
· Experience in data analysis and presentations is required.
· Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
· Experience in healthcare is required.
· Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
· Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
· Certification: Registered Nurse licensure is required; BLS certification is required. Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or related field required.
· Years of relevant experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in leadership, workforce development, and/or nursing professional development required.
· Years of experience supervising: none.
