Meet Stacy Polack, an Operations Supervisor for Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology and Healthy Active Living. She launched her career with Akron Children’s in 2012 working as a Medical Assistant extern, and advanced through different Pediatric Surgery roles before landing her current job as an Operations Supervisor. It was her externship that led her to pediatric care. Stacy cites great resources and support from Akron Children’s MAs to work toward her vision, earn her Medical Assistant certification, and join the Wadsworth location.
"Transitioning to the role in pediatric surgery was fairly seamless thanks to my years of experience within the department,” Stacy says. “But taking on Gastroenterology provided an all-new challenge for me."
In terms of taking on a new challenge, Stacy credits one former supervisor in helping her reach her goals, saying she always supported Stacy’s desire to advance. At the end of the day, it’s about aligning with the right people – from supervisors to teams – to make Stacy feel like she’s a part of something bigger. "When I was back in the area, there was nowhere else I wanted to work,” she says. “I’ve worked with really great teams in various locations and in various roles – they’ve truly felt like teams."

Stacy has actively engaged in internal training opportunities at Akron Children's, including Sherpa Coaching and Prosci Change Management sessions, LinkedIn Learning modules, and completion of the Operational Excellence Program's Problem Solving course. These endeavors signify her dedication to enhancing her leadership skills, driving organizational change, and improving operational efficiency within the organization. Stacy's proactive approach to professional development highlights her commitment to growth and likely played a crucial role in her advancement within Akron Children's.
