Nicole Naples is a nurse practitioner who’s driven by the impact she has helping children and their families. She credits the warmth, compassion and support she receives from Akron Children’s to do her job well. Thanks to the right environment and opportunities, our teams can make all the difference in patients’ lives.
“I had the opportunity to care for a little girl with severe eczema,” Naples shares of one memorable patient. “Together, with this patient’s family, we developed a care plan to bring her relief. Her condition improved and she brightened my day by making me a ‘thank you’ card. I keep her card on my desk as a reminder that it is a privilege to be a part of a child and family’s medical journey.”
Naples knows that delivering excellent care comes with time to learn and collaborate. By leaning into mentorship opportunities, continuing education and committee involvement at Akron Children’s, she’s always supported in her career growth. She even attends specialty conferences and lectures to stay up to date on the latest pediatric care practices and treatment guidelines. "I believe that engagement within the institution allows for a better sense of belonging, commitment and resilience in a time where health care providers often experience burnout,” she says.
As a nurse practitioner, I enjoy coming to work in a supportive environment and having a structured schedule that supports my ability to provide care to my patients as well as be a wife and mother outside of work.
