Summary:
The Audiologist provides comprehensive diagnostic audiological services to children from birth to adult.
Responsibilities:
- Provides comprehensive diagnostic audiological services to children from birth to adult to include VRA, play audiometry, pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing, ABR/ASSR, OAE, and hearing aid evaluations/fittings at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Center and Division satellite locations.
- Provides services in an outpatient and inpatient hospital settings, satellite locations, and multidisciplinary settings with emphasis on clinical quality and efficiency of care process.
- Selects and performs age-appropriate audiometric procedures to assess hearing thresholds in order to determine peripheral hearing sensitivity.
- Provides test results, recommendations and appropriate referrals to parents, referring physicians, and other professionals.
- Performs and provides clinical management for obtaining, verifying, fitting, and dispensing hearing aids, Orders and dispenses FM systems. Responsible for obtaining hearing aid prior authorizations and all hearing aid repairs and services.
- Performs and interprets specialized audiological tests (Universal Newborn Hearing Screenings, unsedated ABR's, sedated ABR's, and ABR's in the OR.)
- Obtains relevant case history. Demonstrates proficiency in navigating the EMR, documentation, report writing, and billing in the EMR.
- Performs hearing screenings.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for physical, psychological, social, educational and safety needs of the patients.
- Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
- Experience in an inpatient and outpatient setting is preferred.
- Experience in VRA, play audiometry, ABR/ASSR, OAE, central auditory processing evaluations and hearing aid fittings is preferred.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Use of EPIC software is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: Master's degree in Audiology or a Doctor Degree in Audiology is required.
- Certification: State of Ohio License in Audiology is required.
- Years of relevant experience: At least 1 years is preferred
- Years of experience supervising: None.
- Travel: Travel to hospital and ENT Division satellites is required.
