Summary:

This position will collaborate closely with pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to assess, plan, and administer anesthesia that is tailored to the unique physiological needs of pediatric patients. This includes conducting comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, discussing anesthesia options with patients' families, and providing age-appropriate education and reassurance to both the patient and their caregivers.

Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations, including reviewing the patient's medical history, laboratory results, and current medications.
    • Assess and identify any potential anesthesia risks or complications, discuss anesthesia options with patients, develop individualized anesthesia care plans and obtain informed consent
    • Administer a variety of anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, and local anesthesia, as well as sedation, perform spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks.
    • Induce and maintain anesthesia during surgical, therapeutic, diagnostic, and obstetrical procedures. Monitor the patient's physiological responses to anesthesia and adjust anesthetic levels accordingly to ensure safety and comfort. Implement rapid sequence intubation (RSI) and manage difficult airways when necessary.
    • Provide post-anesthesia care, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, manage post-operative conditions.
    • Respond to code situations and provide emergency airway management, vascular access, and resuscitative efforts as part of the code team.
    • Educate patients and their families on the anesthesia process, potential risks, and post-operative care instructions, and provide guidance on recovery expectations, managing post-operative pain, and warning signs for complications.
    • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless perioperative care.
    • Participate in teaching and mentoring nurse anesthesia students, residents, or newly hired CRNAs.

Other information:

Education and Experience:

o Education: Master's degree in related field is required; Doctorate degree is preferred.

o Certification: Registered Nurse licensure, CRNA certification, Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists certification, BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification is required.

o Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
