Summary:

The Epic Cache/IRIS Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Epic Cache/IRIS database environment within a pediatric healthcare setting. This role ensures the performance, reliability, and availability of critical Epic applications to support patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

1. Database Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Epic Cache/IRIS databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor database health, including backups, indexing, and storage utilization.
  • Manage database upgrades, patches, and hotfixes in collaboration with Epic and IT teams.
  • Assist with Enterprise Microsoft SQL support as needed.

2. Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

  • Analyze and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization and resource allocation.
  • Implement proactive measures to maintain high availability and minimize downtime.

3. System Integration and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Epic application and infrastructure teams to support integrations and system interoperability.
  • Collaborate with network and server teams to ensure alignment of resources and configurations.

4. Data Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain security protocols to ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and other healthcare regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and privacy.

5. Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide advanced support for database-related issues, including incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Act as a liaison between Epic technical support and the healthcare IT team.

6. Documentation and Training:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Train IT staff and end-users on relevant database features and best practices.

Other information:

Technical Expertise:

  1. Proficiency in Epic Cache/IRIS database management, scripting, and tuning.
  2. Familiarity with Epic Systems modules and Clarity reporting.
  3. Familiarity with Microsoft Enterprise SQL (Desired)
  4. Strong understanding of healthcare IT standards and regulations.
  5. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  2. Experience:Minimum 3 years of experience as an Epic Cache DBA or in a similar role.
