7am - 5pm, Variable Days

Summary:

The Dental Assistant provides efficient assistance for the dentist and/or dental hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic patients. The Dental Assistant is responsible for preparing the operating room, including but not limited to, the sterile field, setting up dental surgical equipment, supplies, etc. and assisting during dental surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides efficient assistance for the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist and individualized instruction and guidance to all Dental Clinic patients.
  2. Demonstrates competent Dental Assistant responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and service to patients.
  3. Participates in the educational, safety and quality efforts of the Dental Practice.
  4. Responsible for scrubbing on minor dental surgical procedures as assigned.
  5. Responsible for maintaining dental operating room suite supplies, pulling procedures, assisting with continuing education, precepting, and orientation of staff.
  6. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

  1. Experience as a chairside assistant in “4-handed dentistry” is required.
  2. Experience treating and teaching healthy and medically compromised patients is preferred.
  3. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
  4. Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
  5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  6. Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is preferred.
  7. Willingness to work with Nitrous Oxide is required.
  8. Willingness to work in a surgical setting with complex cases is required.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience is required. Associates Degree preferred.
  2. Certification: Current certificate to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Nitrous Monitoring certificate required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  3. Years of relevant experience: Minimum 2 or more years of clinical experience in dental assisting
  4. Years of experience supervising: None.
