Full-time, 40 hours/week

Day shift, 8am to 4:30pm with weekend shifts as needed.

Onsite, some travel required in Summit and Mahoning County


Summary:

The Injury Prevention Coordinator – Lead Poisoning Prevention is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based strategies to prevent childhood lead poisoning and mold exposure and reduce environmental health hazards. This role will engage with families, medical providers, housing authorities, and local health and community organizations to promote lead-safe and mold prevention practices, provide education and resources, and support policy and program development aimed at reducing lead and mold exposure in children.

This is a donation-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon the availability of philanthropic support.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and deliver culturally competent educational programs and outreach materials on lead poisoning and mold exposure prevention for families, community partners, and professionals.

2. Collaborate with clinical staff, public health departments, and community-based organizations to identify and serve families affected by or at risk of lead exposure.

3. Coordinate lead and mold prevention community events, including distribution of lead-safe kits, cleaning supplies, and educational resources.

4. Track and evaluate program effectiveness using data on lead screening rates, intervention outcomes, and community engagement.

5. Advocate for lead-safe housing and environmental practices through policy development and partnerships with housing and code enforcement agencies.

6. Serve as a subject matter expert on childhood lead poisoning prevention and mold exposure, keeping current on best practices, legislation, and funding opportunities.

7. Develop program reports in collaboration with the Foundation and assist in donor relations.

8. Represent the organization in coalitions, task forces, and community meetings focused on lead prevention and environmental justice.

9. Maintain knowledge of local lead testing and abatement resources to refer families appropriately.

Other information:

Technical Expertise:

1. Experience coordinating a community-based public health or voluntary health-related program is preferred.

2. Experience with data collection, analysis, and program evaluation.

3. Knowledge of childhood lead poisoning and mold exposure risks, prevention strategies, and public health response protocols.

4. Travel and valid Ohio driver's license is required.

5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

6. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Public Health, Environmental Health, Nursing, or a related field (Master's preferred).

2. Lead Risk Inspector/Assessor certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

3. Bilingual in English, Spanish or another commonly spoken language in the region preferred.

4. Experience working in underserved or high-risk communities preferred.

5. Years of relevant experience: 1 to 3 years is required.
