Summary:
The Injury Prevention Specialist implements the Goodyear Safe Mobility Project and related injury prevention initiatives across Summit, Medina, Stark, and Portage Counties. This is a donation-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon the availability of philanthropic support.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for implementing activities associated with the Goodyear Safe Mobility Project and injury prevention strategies within Summit, Medina, Stark and Portage counties.
2. Utilize a data-enabled approach to address injury prevention, which is in alignment with the Goodyear Safe Mobility Project work plan and accrediting bodies.
3. Works collaboratively with the Injury Prevention Manager to address identified Safe Mobility Project strategies focused on child passenger safety (CPS), bicycle safety, pedestrian safety and teen safe driving.
4. Assists with injury prevention data tracking and development of reports highlighting the work of the project.
5. Provides education to caregivers on the importance of car seats and child passenger safety.
6. Implements the teen safe driving program including the safe transportation, maintenance and operation of SIDNE (Simulated Impaired DriviNg Experience) go cart.
7. Maintain bicycle helmet inventory, including ordering, receiving and tracking distribution.
8. Serve on committees, work groups or task forces to support the goals of the Safe Mobility Project.
9.Supports the Regional Child Passenger Safety (RCPS) Coordinator and Regional Community Health and Infant Vitality Coordinator (CHIV) with technical assistance and support to all Ohio Buckles Buckeye sites and fitting stations in Region 8 (Summit, Portage, Trumbull, Ashtabula, Mahoning and Columbiana counties).
10.Assists with the coordination of volunteer opportunities for Goodyear Associates to participate in Safe Mobility Project activities.
11. Contributes to the effective delivery of services to clients.
12. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Experience planning, and implementing a community health or injury prevention initiative is preferred.
2. Experience working independently and in team settings and manage various complex projects simultaneously is required.
3. Travel and valid Ohio driver's license is required.
4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or related field is required.
2. Certification: Child passenger safety technician certification is required or obtained within 60 days from hire.
3. Years of relevant experience: 1 to 3 years is preferred.
4. Years of experience supervising: None.
Possesses a valid State driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain insurability as determined by the ACH insurance carrier's requirements.
An annual physical is required to be completed with the Akron Children's Hospital Employee Health Department.
