Summary:

The Prospect Research Specialist is responsible for organizing the major gifts and grants prospecting program and for coordinating the prospect management program with fundraising staff.


Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for organizing the major gifts and grants prospecting program and for coordinating the prospect management program with fundraising staff.

2. Ensures research needed to successfully carry out the fundraising programs is accurate, comprehensive and timely.

3. Works closely with gift officers to support the goals of the major gifts program and is responsible for supporting and coordinating the use of donor records, both hard copy and electronic, to create research and analytical profiles on prospects, to provide analysis of the gift capabilities of those within the donor database, to store data on prospects, to generate reports and to identify new major gift prospects.

4. Organizes, implements, and leads a prospect management program, including prospect strategy meetings, routine reports on cultivation activity, development of solicitation strategies and effective use of Raiser's Edge in prospect management.

5. Identifies prospects for major gifts through the implementation of a prospecting plan.

6. Provides analysis of research to major gift officers by implementing research methodologies and utilizing internal and external resources.

7. Other duties as required.


Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Experience in fundraising is required.

2. Experience in researching donor and grant prospects is required.

3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.

4. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

5. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Database management software is required; Raiser's Edge software is preferred.

Education and Experience:
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Master's degree is preferred.

2. Certification: None.

3. Years of relevant experience: minimum 3 years is preferred.

4. Years of experience supervising: None.
