Remote (Training onsite first 90 days)

Summary:
Responsible for the day to day process, work flow of all Patient Access Registrars, Financial Counselors and Authorization Specialists. Ongoing development of policies and procedures related to work functions on an on-going basis. If applicable, develop payment plans to be offered to families. Implements training for staff members, and provides regular updates to staff. Sets monitoring parameters and indicators for success and provides feedback to the groups and individually as indicated. Reviews workqueues, schedules and daily, weekly, monthly reports. Monitors all co-pay collections. Works with other department managers to assure integration of Admitting, ED registration, ARC and Financial Counselors into the clinical care areas. Acts as a moderator with families, third party payers, and governmental agencies. Interviews, selects, and disciplines staff. Provides cross-coverage for all Supervisors within the Access department including an on-call rotation for weekends, holidays and vacations.Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the day to day operations of assigned department and assigned staff.
2. Collaboration with the Director in terms of policy development, education and monitoring. Responsible for the management of specific job functions for assigned staff to assure compliance with timely, quality and customer service standards. Coordinates with Access Trainers the education and follow up training needs for assigned staff.
3. Is responsible for Epic related work queues, departmental appointment schedules and other Epic processes.
4. Accountable for the adherence to applicable regulatory and other compliance rules associated with work processes assigned to staff and signage or other patient communication as required by JCAHO or other regulatory processes
5. Collaborates those functions that integrate with other clinical and non-clinical areas.
6. Peer cross coverage on a scheduled basis.
7. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Experience relevant to supervision in a similar/identical area in a moderate to large hospital based healthcare enterprise is required.
2. Technical knowledge sufficient to engage, mentor and monitor the quality of data capture requires specific background in clinical terminology, systems requirements and payer needs is required.
3. Experience working independently, making decisions, and working in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment is required.
4. Experience working with staff, management, executives, providers and clinical staff is required.
5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
6. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Epic experience required.
Education and Experience
1. Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
2. Certification: None
3. Years of relevant experience: 5 years minimum required.
4. Years of experience supervising: 3 to 5 years is required but can be waived if the applicant has 10 years of progressive experience in the field.
