Summary:
The Radiology Department Supervisor is tasked with overseeing intricate scheduling, service coordination, image management, front desk operations, and general clerical duties within the Radiology Department. With a primary focus on ensuring efficient workflow processes and maintaining adherence to departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, the Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring quality assurance and optimal departmental performance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members to facilitate effective performance and attainment of departmental objectives.
- Manage complex scheduling and coordination of Radiology services for out-patients, internal and external providers, and clinical and support staff.
- Monitor the scheduling queue in EPIC to ensure accurate and timely scheduling according to department guidelines.
- Create and distribute the radiology backlog report, addressing outliers as necessary.
- Customize scheduling templates according to departmental requirements and evolving needs.
- Collaborate with Patient Access to coordinate and oversee the insurance authorization process for radiology services.
- Supervise and perform front desk duties, including patient check-in, registration, insurance verification, financial estimates, and co-pay collections.
- Oversee Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) functions, ensuring efficient, accurate, and reliable imaging informatics services.
- Utilize proficiency in multiple systems for processing, interpreting, and sharing imaging crucial for the patient plan of care.
- Provide support to physicians, technologists, and support staff during computer system downtime and upgrades.
- Coordinate imaging management processes such as burning CDs, faxing, HIPAA release of information, paging, sending studies to external facilities, and troubleshooting issues.
- Oversee the communication of STAT results to providers and patients, maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Monitor work quality, adherence to standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements through regular audits and assessments.
- Onboard, train, and evaluate new and existing staff members, providing ongoing support and opportunities for professional development.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to departmental activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in EPIC scheduling system.
- Experience with PACS and imaging informatics systems preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance authorization processes.
- Ability to adapt to and utilize multiple software systems efficiently.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Education and Experience
- Education: Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
- Years of Relevant Experience: 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Years of Supervisory Experience: 2 years preferred.
