Summary:

The Laboratory Supervisor has the responsibility for planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members in the department(s) assigned to them. This position is responsible for performing duties so as to operate the lab with the highest quality safety and integrity, and in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques, procedures, instrumentation, quality control, quality assurance, and safety precautions in the field of medical technology is required

2. Skill in the operation, calibration and routine maintenance of modern laboratory equipment and instrumentation is required

3. Ability to provide technical consultation to physicians and nurses is required

4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required

5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is required

6. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required

7. Experience in healthcare is required

8. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

9. Experience with Soft Lab Software is preferred

Education and Experience
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent degree at the bachelors level or higher is required

2. Certification: Certification as a MT / MLS from ASCP, NCCLS, or equivalent is required

3. Years of relevant experience: 3-5 years is preferred

4. Years of experience supervising: 2-5 years is preferred

5. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
