Job Requisition Number 27929Summary: The Primary Care Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to pediatric patients from birth through young adulthood. As a licensed healthcare provider in Ohio, the APRN collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive primary care services, including health maintenance, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Perform detailed physical examinations and health histories for pediatric patients from birth through young adulthood, ensuring early identification of medical, developmental, and behavioral conditions. Assess and document growth parameters, vital signs, developmental milestones, and behavioral health status during well-child visits and routine check-ups. 2. Identify risk factors based on family history, social determinants of health, and environmental factors. 3. Utilize clinical reasoning to diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions. Orders, views, interprets, and evaluates laboratory tests and diagnostic studies to assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs 4. Discuss key topics such as nutrition, physical activity, sleep hygiene, safety measures, and developmental milestones, tailoring the guidance to the specific needs of each child and their family dynamics. 5. Promote the importance of vaccinations and explain the recommended pediatric immunization schedule, addressing any concerns or questions that families may have to support informed decision-making. 6. Offer ongoing support and counseling for families managing chronic conditions ensuring they understand treatment plans and know how to manage symptoms at home. 7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and facilitate referrals to pediatric subspecialists (e.g., cardiology, endocrinology, orthopedics) to ensure continuity of care through follow-up and communication with other providers. 8. Serve as a mentor and resource for other APPs, nursing staff, and medical trainees, providing guidance on clinical decision-making, procedures, and pediatric care best practices. 9. Identify barriers to healthcare access for underserved populations, and work to improve access to care, including outreach to families with limited resources. Advocate for patient and family needs, helping them navigate healthcare systems and connect with community resources for additional support
Other information: Education and Experience: 1. Graduation from an accredited advanced practice registered nurse training program. 2. Master’s Degree Required. 3. Board Certification as a nurse practitioner or certified nurse midwife by nationally accredited organization. 4. Current unrestricted Ohio license as a registered nurse. 5. Current unrestricted license as an advanced practice registered nurse in the state of Ohio. 6. Must obtain/maintain adequate continuing education hours per board requirements. 7. Current Health Care Provider BLS training is required. PALS & ACLS may be required. 8. Must obtain credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical staff privileges. 9. DEA for prescriptive authority required.
